Recently I have had a number of discussions on how identity 2.0, or user-centric identity fits into the corporate world. As Identity 2.0 proves itself on the Internet and the wrinkles are ironed out, I predict that Enterprise 2.0 will rapidly embrace it.
Initially enterprises will enable their employees to easily interact with Identity 2.0 enabled sites or collaborate in an ad hoc manner with people outside their enterprise and trading partners.
Eventually enterprises may embrace Identity 2.0 for solving internal identity issues like they have embraced other internet technologies in the past. Most large organizations are a reasonably loose collection of units. Identity 2.0 allows each unit to have direct control over the roles each of its members and all of its resources.
